Get To Know Us
We aim to advance the economic development of the Thompson Region whilst also ensuring that initiatives are being undertaken to ensure sustainability of the organization.
Who We Are
The Thompson Community Development Corporation (Thompson CDC) was established in 1996 and in later years was rebranded and operated as Thompson Unlimited. The organization always at its core had a community economic development mandate that guided its operations.
In 2015 the organization operations ended. This closure was due primarily to the financial constraints being experienced, that limited the entity`s capacity to deliver in a sustainable way.
Through community assessments carried out in 2019, it was identified that there was a need to establish a stand-alone community organization that would drive certain aspects of economic development in Thompson.
A decision was taken to revive the Thompson CDC. The City of Thompson carried through a process and the Corporation was formally revived in June 2020 with an interim Board put in place to manage and guide its start-up.
Mandate
The Thompson CDC Manager with support and guidance from the Board of Director and management committees will seek to develop and execute projects and initiatives in line with its core areas, with an aim of advancing economic development in the Thompson Region, whilst also ensuring that initiatives are being undertaken to secure a financially sustainable organization for years come.
